Reflectance Standards
STAN Series
Ocean Optics offers specular reflectance standards for measuring shiny surfaces such as machined metals and semiconductor materials and low-reflectivity surfaces such as anti-reflective coatings and thin film coatings. The STAN-SSH varies in reflectivity from 87%-98% over the 200-2500 nm wavelength range and is available in a version (STAN-SSH-NIST) calibrated to a NIST master standard. The NIST calibration data range is 250-2500 nm.

Gloss & Reflectance
Visual appearance can determine a person’s perception of a product. Colour and Gloss are two key parameters that are used to define a product’s overall quality. Perception is subjective, but Elcometer’s range of gloss meters, DOI meters and colour assessment equipment can quantify appearance measurement. The ability of a surface to reflect light without scattering is known as gloss. Using a gloss meter, gloss is measured by directing a constant intensity light beam at a fixed angle to the test surface and then by monitoring the amount of reflected light at the same angle. Different surfaces require different reflective angles.

Network OTDR
NFO series
The NFO OTDR unit injects the laser pulse into the fiber under test and picks up scattered and reflected optical signals by an avalanche photodiode (APD). The unit accepts remote commands from Internet to control all related timing and data acquisition processes. Maximal three wavelengths are available at the NFO with options on 1310, 1490, 1550, and 1625 nm. NFO also has options on dynamic ranges so users can select the most cost effective units for their demands. Gloss Meters
Gloss meters are used devices designed for measuring the specular reflection gloss of a surface. The gloss is determined by the measuring of the amount of reflected light at an equal, but opposite angle from the light beam. The quantity of light is determined by shining light from a defined angle at a surface and then measuring the light opposite the source of light at the same angle. The measurement is then compared to a standard. The most common angle for measurement is 60°.

Titration
A typical titration begins with a beaker or Erlenmeyer flask containing a very precise volume of the analyte and a small amount of indicator placed underneath a calibrated burette or chemistry pipetting syringe containing the titrant. Small volumes of the titrant are then added to the analyte and indicator until the indicator changes, reflecting arrival at the endpoint of the titration.
