Fault Insertion Unit
The 40-196 is a 10 Channel 5A Fault Insertion Switch, primarily designed for the simulation of fault conditions in automotive & avionics applications involving the reliability testing of safety critical controllers. It is designed to be able to insert different fault conditions between the test fixture and the equipment under test: Open-Circuit, Short-Circuit between signal pairs, Short-Circuit between signal pairs and user applied fault conditions e.g. Power or GND. Shorting relays on each channel enable UUT signals to be subjected to external user applied fault conditions or to be shorted to the adjacent signal in the same channel. Relays in line with the signal allow open circuit conditions to be simulated on either side or both sides of a channel signal pair. The switching topology of the 40-196 allows channels to be interconnected so that complex fault insertion systems can be constructed.

The Battery Fault Insertion Unit (FIU) provides intelligent switching of cell-simulation channels for the Battery Simulator 1200. The switching capability enables simulation of open-circuit and short-to-rail fault conditions on any cell channel for the purposes of battery management system (BMS) testing. Additionally, a four-wire auxiliary input allows you to connect an external digital multimeter (DMM) instrument to any cell channel for very high-accuracy bypass current and cell voltage measurements. Each FIU provides 24 independently-programmable cell-switching channels for one or two 12-cell Battery Simulator 1200 units. In recent years, we have been developing a sophisticated IV curve tracer for PV modules including a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) function. The IV curve tracer is designed for operation with any market-available steady-state solar simulator. Through our web-based software design, the operator can supervise the test results from every computer in a company network. The software contains functions such as an irradiation sum counter that helps to check requirements stated in a stabilization test like they are defined in IEC 61215 (MQT 19). We have also included a correction function to correct the traced IV curves to standard test conditions (STC) when the user enters the required temperature coefficients. One of the most important features is the multi-IV curve tracing function, which enables the user to display more than 150 IV curves in one graph. This eases the analysis of the weakest cells in hot-spot tests, which are required in IEC 61730 (MST 22) and IEC 61215 (MQT 09).

The GGT500 ground grid integrity tester is designed for inspection of the substation ground grid. It can also be used as a portable micro-ohmmeter with Both Sides Grounded and Remote Control functionalities. It is intended to inspection the conditions of a grounding system beneath substations, testing of medium- and high-voltage circuit breakers, disconnecting switches, high-current bus bar joints, cable splices, and different high-current links.In the United States when inspecting the quality of the grounding systems beneath a substation, the proper procedure is to inject 300 A DC during a time period of 60 s. This is what the GGT500 will do, and in that time period, the current path and voltage drop are checked. Also acting as a micro-ohmmeter, the GGT500 can test low resistance values by producing high test currents of up to 500 A.The instrument is placed in an unbreakable, plastic case with IP67 protective rating (with closed lid). Although very portable and lightweight, micro-ohmmeters have very high output power capabilities. High output voltage enables a wider measurement range at higher test currents, as well as the use of thinner/longer test cables. GGT500 ground grid integrity tester generates a true DC ripple-free (less than 1 % ripple) current with automatically regulated test ramps. This significantly decreases magnetic transients and ensures great accuracy.When used for testing in Both Sides Grounded conditions, a special current clamp powered from the ground grid integrity tester is used for measuring a current through groundings. If even a higher safety level is required, the remote control feature enables the operator to perform measurements from a distant location, away from the instrument and test object.
