FMC Loopback Test Board

The FMC loopback tester board enables developers and assembly factories to test and characterize the FMC carrier board interfaces. The board features full differential loopbacks on all the FMC high pin count (HPC) connector interfaces including LA, HA, HB, DP and CLK. It also provides a 125MHz transceiver LVDS reference clocks on GBTCLK signals. The FMC loopback board is based on VITA 57 standard with ruggedized conduction or air cooling.

This is an eight, four, or two-port, asynchronous, serial communication board designed for use on the PC/104 bus. It supports full RS-232 serial communications. The board may be installed in any standard PC/104 stack. Connections are made via two 40 pin IDC type right angle connectors for the boards optional breakout cable. The boards are feature-rich and allow for the connection of multiple serial devices—ideal for a variety of applications such as POS, barcode readers, modems, machine monitoring and control, military, high-density networking applications or any other application requiring the connection of RS-232 serial devices to a PC/104 compatible system. Type 16780 UARTS are used as the asynchronous communication elements. The FMC121 provides two 16-bit A/D channels up to 1Gsps and two 16-bit D/A channels up to 1.4 Gsps data rate with a 2.8 GSPS update rate. The design is based on Texas Instruments’ ADS54J60 Analog-to-Digital converter and Texas Instruments DAC39J84 Digital-to-Analog converter. The sample clock can be supplied externally through a coaxial connection or supplied by an internal clock source (optionally locked to an external reference) for multi-channel synchronization. An external trigger input is available for timing synchronization. The FMC121 is mechanically and electrically compliant to the FMC standard (ANSI/VITA 57.1).
