The Keysight 11930B limiter provides input protection for a variety of RF and microwave instrumentation. Failure mode for the limiter is either an open circuit or a short circuit to ground, thereby protecting the instrument from damage. The Keysight 11930B provides the same protection to spectrum analyzers and sources. At even greater power levels, failure mode for limiter is either an open circuit or a short circuit to ground, thereby protecting the instrument from damage.

Limiter Diodes
The SemiGen SLP7100 series of Limiter Diodes are processed with a high-resistivity epi that have thin intrinsic layers. These devices are typically in the 2 to 20 micron range of epi thickness and can be gold doped to achieve specific performance goals. Transient Limiters
Transient limiter LIT-153A and LIT-930A protects a spectrum analyzer input from high-level transients from the line impedance stabilization networks during EMC conducted emissions testing. It has a combined frequency range of 9 kHz to 30 MHz. The built in high pass filter helps reduce 50/60 Hz line feed through. (see application notes)

A 30dB pre-amplifier is included which can be connected in the RF output feed to return the insertion loss to 0dB. A DSP-controlled analog audio limiter is employed before the A-D converter. The limiter recovers quickly from brief transients, with no audible side effects, and also recovers slowly from sustained high levels to keep audio distortion low while preserving short term dynamics.
