ESD Protection

Shielding Effectiveness/ Conductivity Test

The EM-2107A is a standard test fixture for evaluation of the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of planar material. The fixture is an enlarged section of coaxial transmission line and complies fully with the requirements of ASTM test method D4935-1. The measured data relates to the shielding effectiveness due to a plane wave (far field EM wave) from which near field values for magnetic and electric fields may be inferred. The EM-2107A is provided with a reference standard test specimen, a dynamic range specimen. Dynamic range of greater than 80dB is achievable, although the cables and other test system components usually establishes the limiting factors.

Sound Level Indicators
A sound level meter is a measuring instrument used to assess noise or sound levels by measuring sound pressure. Often referred to as a sound pressure level (SPL) meter, decibel (dB) meter, noise meter or noise dosimeter, a sound level meter uses a microphone to capture sound. The sound is then evaluated within the sound level meter and acoustic measurement values are shown on the display of the sound level meter. The most common unit of acoustic measurement for sound is the decibel (dB); however, some sound level meter devices also determine the equivalent continuous sound level (Leq) and other acoustic parameters. With a portable sound level meter, industrial hygiene and workplace safety professionals can measure sound levels in multiple locations to ensure environmental conditions fall within recommended exposure limits (RELs). Some sound level meter devices can be permanently installed for continuous monitoring of sound levels at a work or job site.An important attribute to consider when searching for a suitable sound level meter is its type or class. The type or class of a sound level meter defines the device's accuracy as per American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines. Typically, "type" is the grade according to the ANSI S1.4 standard, whereas "class" is the grade according to the IEC 61672 standard. There are two types or classes assigned to sound level meters: type 1 / class 1 or type 2 / class 2. For assessing noise in basic industrial, commercial, educational, recreational or residential applications, a type 2 / class 2 sound level meter usually will suffice. For precision-grade assessments often made in a laboratory, a type 1 / class 1 sound level meter primarily is used. Solar Simulator for Multijunction Solar Cells
For series connected multijunction cells, at a given spectrum (e.g. AM 1.5 or AM 0 for space solar cells), one of the cells will limit the current in the series connection of cells. All solar simulators deviate from the true AM 1.5 spectrum, and they are only classified in wide spectral bands (100nm width). So even for class A or A+ solar simulators, it can easily happen that the bandgaps of the multijunction cells are such distributed that the 'wrong' cell will limit the current, if a solar simulator with fixed spectrum is used. In the 70s and 80s, when these measurements were first developed, intercomparisons showed deviations of cell efficiency in fixed spectrum solar simulators of more than 40%.
