The NET-xTVMS is a system of specialized computer probes networked to the enterprise server and clients. The probes, strategically located at the hub sites next to edge routers and edge QAMs, continuously monitor IPTV QoS with MPEG-TS transport metrics of SPTS and MPTS multicast streams as well as DVB-C MPTS streams. The NET-xTVMS is scalable from 1 to 1000 probes. Several types of probes are available to suit many different monitoring applications. Metrics are collected at the probes and alarms are sent to the server once they exceed predefined thresholds. A system wide alarm matrix, alarm logs and periodic metrics for each location can then be viewed via Internet on client computers.

The SpaceWire PCI Express (PCIe) board is the latest addition to STAR-Dundee’s SpaceWire interface device family. It provides three SpaceWire interfaces with the optimised host software supporting high bandwidth transmission of SpaceWire packets directly to and from the host PC. The three SpaceWire interfaces of the SpaceWire PCIe are each fully compliant to the SpaceWire standard and operate at up to 300 Mbits/s. Not only an interface device, the SpaceWire PCIe also contains powerful routing capabilities and an RMAP Target. The device can also be used as a router. The router facilitates packets from one SpaceWire port to be routed to another SpaceWire port or into the host PC via the PCIe interface. There are three independent channels from the SpaceWire router to the PCIe interface, so traffic flowing over one port cannot block traffic for another port. In addition there is a separate control channel, so that the host PC is always able to access the control, configuration and status space of the PCIe regardless of the data flow.

Every radio devices in such an infrastructure-less network acts as a sender, receiver, and forwarder (router). The system is fully designed for frequencies up to 6 GHz, since wireless communication for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is based on the WLAN standard IEE 802.11p from 5.850 MHz to 5.925 MHz. The connected ITS stations can be either on-board units, as they are built into cars, or road side units that are used by road infrastructure (traffic lights, road work area delimiters, velocity signs).
