Portable Analyzers
The key to the operation of Alpha Moisture Systems' Portable Analysers is the unique Desiccant Dry-Down Chamber. By keeping the sensor dry between tests, the special assembly of the head ensures that the instrument is always ready for immediate use. The head assembly consists of two chambers which have a telescopic action. When the head assembly is in the 'closed' or 'Dry-Down' position, the sensor is completely surrounded by desiccant, which absorbs the remaining water moisture from the sensor and hence it is dry and ready for use. The small space at the bottom of the test chamber enables the sample pipe to be purged before the test commences without wetting the sensor. By placing a finger over the outlet of the head, the sample pressure is able to open the test chamber automatically, exposing the sensor to the gas being tested and enabling accurate reading of moisture content in the sample gas. After each test the head assembly is closed by depressing the inner section so that the sensor will again be dried by the desiccant, leaving the sensor ready for use time and time again. The desiccant is kept in the inner chamber and is not exposed to ambient room air or the sample gas, therefore there is no need for frequent regeneration or replacement of the desiccant.

High Current Switches

Ross High Current Switches are available up to 36,000 amps continuous and over 1,700,000 amps 20µsec RC pulse, with voltage ratings of 6 volts to 400kV peak test. Standard Ross high current switches are built with 80 to 120psi air cylinder actuators. Air cylinder or motor operated for high contact force. Arcing contacts optional for closing current. G-10 epoxy glass laminate is standard insulation on most models. G-7 silicone glass is used on models available for RF applications above 100kHz. Most Ross high current switches are available with additional lengths of insulation, where the high voltage contacts need to be spaced at a greater distance from the actuator and control circuit. Voltage withstand value is at least doubled and the interrupt capability is much greater when high current switches are immersed in insulating oil, fluid or SF6 gas. For gas atmosphere, no modifications are necessary; however, oil or fluid immersion requires modification at a slight extra cost.

DVS Resolution’s key feature is the combined ability to precisely control and measure temperature and relative humidity while recording the highest resolution changes in mass. DVS Resolution uses a dry carrier gas typically nitrogen or compressed air for its operation. Digital mass flow controllers regulate flows of dry and saturated gases. Relative humidity is generated by precisely mixing dry and saturated gas flows in desired flow ratios which produce expected relative humidity. In a typical experiment a known concentration of water vapor is delivered over a sample placed inside the sample pan connected to the Surface Measurement Systems Ultrabalance™ measuring realtime mass changes caused by sorption or desorption of water molecules.
