Contrast Sensors
Contrast sensors are primarily used in packaging/printing machines for the detection of printed or control marks. SICK's line of KT contrast sensors detects even the smallest contrasts at the highest speeds, such as print marks on foils or packaging. They detect minute grayscale variations between the mark and the background on matte, shiny or transparent surfaces. This sensor supports a larger operating range (specifically in the negative range) than its predecessors, the MAX6674 and MAX6675, though it is not pin-pin compatible. This board is interfaced with a 0.1" 1x5 pin header, has a vertical mini thermocouple connector and four mounting holes for standoffs and 4-40 screws.

For precision temperature sensing, nothing beats a Platinum RTD. Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) are temperature sensors that contain a resistor that changes resistance value as its temperature changes, basically a kind of thermistor. In this sensor, the resistor is actually a small strip of Platinum with a resistance of 100 ohms at 0C, thus the name PT100.
