The LCA-9PC Module provides low-cost, dedicated signal conditioning for a single bridge type load cell or torque sensor. Model LCA-9PC comes with DB9 male and female connectors, which require soldering to user-furnished mating female or male wire connectors. On- board jumper selections include sensitivities from 0.5 mV/V to 10 mV/V, bandwidths from 100 Hz to 30 kHz, and amplified outputs of 0 to ±5V, 0 to ±10V, 0-16 mA, 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA. Zero and span adjustments are via precision 25-turn low-tempco metal film otentiometers.The units can be operated next to the sensor with 4-wire hookup or at distances up to 1 km (3300 feet) with 6-wire hookup. An onboard 87.325 kΩ resistor allows easy shunt calibration at the push of a button. Provision is also made for a user-furnished calibration resistor. Power requirements are 11.8 to 26V DC with load currents from 10 to 60 mA, the latter applying when the unit provides 10V DC excitation to a 350 ohm load cell and delivers a 20 mA analog output.

This sensor supports a larger operating range (specifically in the negative range) than its predecessors, the MAX6674 and MAX6675, though it is not pin-pin compatible. This board is interfaced with a 0.1" 2x5 pin header (8-pins used), has four vertical mini thermocouple connectors and four mounting holes for standoffs and 4-40 screws. The SEN-30003 is interfaced via 3 or 4-wire SPI with a data-ready output for specific operating modes. The module provides 8 measurement channels, and can be programmed for interfacing to 2, 3, and 4-wire platinum RTD sensor configurations. The 4-wire mode (default) is the most accurate, providing excellent stability and repeatability. The RTD channels feature individual A/D converters and precision excitation/current drive. Programmable lead-wire compensation is provided for inherently less accurate 2 and 3-wire configurations. All RTD channels are self-aligning because each channel is automatically "aligned" on a rotating basis to eliminate offset and gain errors throughout the operating envelope. ADLINK PXI-7921 is a relay multiplexer which consists of 24 2-wire relays (DPDT, 2 Form C). As a multiplexer, the PXI-7921 provides 48x1 1-wire, 24x1 2-wire and 12x1 4-wire configurations. Users could choose one of the configurations by software. PXI-7921 typically connects one instrument, such as a DMM, a digitizer or a signal source, with many points which need measurement or excitation. The contact position of the relays can be changed either by direct software commands or by following the instructions previously stored in the on-board scan list. The scan list advances upon the trigger from external measurement devices, such as a DMM. The scan list could also advance when the scan-delay timer expires. In the PXI-7921, PXI trigger functions are supported and software programmable. Multiple modules can therefore be synchronized without additional field wiring.

The I-V Curve Data Acquisition includes a fixture for holding cells for testing (see Figure 1 below). This fixture can accommodate cells from small to up to 100 mm x 100 mm. Adjustable cell stops, in the X & Y-axis, are provided to consistently locate the cells for testing. Two micro-manipulators are provided as shown in Figure 1. Each micro-manipulator has two spring loaded contacts to allow 4-wire measurement even for cells that have top contacts only. Two back-side voltage contacts are embedded in the Plate (galvanically isolated from the Plate) and make good electrical contact when the cell is held down by vacuum to the plate. All voltage and current probes are gold-plated. The cell is held down with vacuum during testing (built-in vacuum pump).
