IQ Mixers
The new MMIC IQ mixers from Fairview (also known as IQ modulators) utilize a highly reliable GaAs MESFET semiconductor process which integrates a pair of matched double balanced mixer cells, a 90-degree hybrid and a 0-degree splitter/combiner that produces exceptional amplitude and phase balance performance. This level of integration offers size and performance advantages in comparison to discrete module assemblies. With the addition of an external 90-degree IF hybrid module, these IQ mixers can be used as either a Single Sideband Up-converter Mixer or an Image Reject Down-converter Mixer. The benefit of image rejection and sideband suppression can reduce overall system cost and complexity by removing the need for pre-selection filtering. The M9336A AWG delivers exceptional performance for creation of complex wideband waveforms. Multiple, 540 MHz bandwidth channels with 16-bit resolution and up to a 1.28 GSa/s sampling rate are provided in a single-slot PXIe instrument. This enables the AWG to generate wide bandwidth signals with low Error Vector Magnitude (EVM), making it ideal for creating baseband waveforms for wireless communications, radar, and satellite. The M9336A can also be combined with a wideband I/Q upconverter, resulting in modulation bandwidths of 1 GHz at RF frequencies for signal simulations employed in functional testing of chip sets designed for modern digital communications radios.

Band Pass Filters
VDI offers up-converter modules for communication applications. The double sideband nature of the up-converter modules makes filtering necessary. VDI has designed filters to filter one sideband and preserve signal modulation. These filters offer low passband insertion loss and high out-of-band rejection. Custom filters may be available upon request. NRE (non-recurring engineering) fee may be required.
