Our advanced, rugged, industrial-grade, RS232 / RS485 / RS422 serial to multi-drop fiber optic converters are designed to cover large areas. These converters support up to 255 fiber nodes, and each fiber node can extend the RS232 / RS422 / RS485's distance to 3 miles (5km) for multi-mode converters and cables, or 25 miles (40km) for single-mode converters and cables. Depending on the site situation, these multi-drop fiber optic converters can be configured as a daisy-chain or a self-healing redundant ring fiber network. The new design of these transition time converters ensures very low signal reflection far beyond the 3 dB point, unlike conventional converters. Reducing the signal transition-times also increases the overall pulse-performance for overshoot/reflection sensitive applications. The converters are fitted with SMA connectors, one male, one female. These converters have been designed to convert the fixed transition-times of the Keysight 8133A 3 GHz timing generator (<100 ps transitions) to slower, fixed transition-times (150 ps, 250 ps, 500 ps, 1 ns, 2 ns) hence reducing the signal bandwidth.
