Multifunction I/O
The NIU3A is a small, rugged, low-power, self-contained processing and multifunction I/O system preconfigured with 24-CH programmable Discrete I/O, 8-CH ARINC 429/575, 4-CH CANBus and 2-CH MIL-STD-1553 functions. The NIU3A can also be configured with up to three smart Configurable Open Systems Architecture™ (COSA®) function modules. The NIU3A boasts Dual or Quad Core ARM Cortex®-A53 processors for customer software applications and I/O and communications management. The NIU3A is configured with two 10/100/1000BASE-T (GbE) Ethernet ports and an RS-232 port for maintenance / diagnostic or configuration interface. The CM8 module is a combination of NAI's MIL-STD-1553B module, FTB, and Enhanced Discrete I/O module, DT4. The CM8 offers twelve channels of discrete I/O and two channels of MIL-STD-1553B communications. The twelve discrete I/O channels are programmable as either input (voltage or contact sensing with programmable, on-module pull-up/pull down current sources), or output (current source, sink, or push-pull) up to 500 mA per channel from an applied, external 3-60 VCC source. The discrete I/O channels also provide additional functionality modes such as Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) output mode and Pattern Generator output mode. The two MIL-STD-1553B communications channels feature a dual, redundant, balanced-line, physical layer; a (differential) network interface; time division multiplexing; half-duplex command/response protocol; and up to 31 remote terminals (devices).

The DT5 module (the enhanced version) features 16 independent, isolated, programmable channels that can be used for input voltage measurements (±80 V), or as a bi-directional current switch (up to 500 mA per channel). When programmed as a switch with the switch closed, both the current through the switch and the voltage across the switch can be monitored. These modules include diode clamping on each channel. Clamping is useful for inductive loads, such as relays and short circuit protection. Additional features of the DT5 (Enhanced Version) are listed below.

The 3512 is an eight channel non-isolated digital I/O board with +5V tolerant 74LCX14 inputs with hysteresis and +3.3V CMOS 74LVTH125 driven outputs.
