These SOLT calibration kits have a phase deviation of +/-2 degrees maximum and return loss of 30 dB minimum and feature an impedance level of 50 Ohms nominal. Barcode symbol quality has been at the forefront of discussion among practitioners in the automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) industry since they were invented in 1951. Barcodes became commercially successful when they were used to automate checkout systems at grocery stores, with the very first scanning of the Universal Product Code (UPC) on a pack of Wrigley Company chewing gum in June 1974. The Uniform Code Council (UCC) published barcode quality guidelines, and ANSI X3.182-1990 became the first published standard for barcode quality. Since then, ISO/IEC 15416 for 1D symbols and ISO/IEC 15415 for 2D symbols have become the global standards for grading printed barcodes.

Developed in conjunction with NIST, the Rs-5900 ECPR is a ±1% absolute accuracy radiometric transfer standard for the visible to near-IR (0.25-2.0µm), with the RsIR Option extending the ±1% accuracy to >20µm. The RsP-590 Pyroelectric Probe requires no cooling and maintains ±1% accuracy from 1 µW to 100 mW. The ECPR uses an auto-nulling, electrical substitution technique that allows the instrument to be referenced against NIST electrical standards, insuring maximum accuracy and precision. Unlike most electrically calibrated radiometers, there is a direct correlation between electrical and optical heating because the same material serves as both the optical absorber and electrical heating element.
