Due to the "short path" of sample flow, these new systems overcome the shortcomings of previous desorption systems by eliminating transfer lines, which are easily contaminated by samples, and by providing for the optimum delivery of samples to the GC injector via the shortest path possible--the direct, syringe-like injection into the GC.

The SPCI CMU Simulator replaces the ACARS Communications Management Unit for end-to-end testing of the ACARS system. It communicates with an Inmarsat Classic Aero or SB-Safety Satellite Data Unit (SDU) via ARINC-429 to generate and receive ACARS traffic. The CMU Simulator is implemented as a Physical Layer Tester script, and can run on either a BPLT or a GDU. In addition, it can run on a standard PC using a special version of the GDU or BPLT software. In all cases, a suitable ARINC-429 interface must be present.

DP-cPCI-4017 is a 40 Channel Relay Multiplexer module constructed using ‘2 Form A’ relays. The DP-cPCI-4017 is implemented as a 6U cPCI module. As a 40 channel multiplexer, one input can be multiplexed to any of the forty outputs or vice versa. The forty channel multiplexer is divided into 4 banks of 10 channels each. This combination allows the board to be used as one group of 40x1 or two groups of 20x1 or four groups of 10x1 multiplexer. The banks are isolated from each other using tree switches. Four tree switches are used, one tree switch for each bank.
