Asphalt Testing Equipment
ELE international manufactures a comprehensive range of field and laboratory asphalt testing equipment to ensure compliance with quality and performance specifications. Traditional methods of binder content analysis involved the use of solvents, but due to environmental concerns ELE has developed an Asphalt Binder Analyser which uses an ignition method and thereby avoids the use of harmful solvents. Loss on heating and a rolling thin-film oven are used for testing bitumen, flash and fire point are measured with the Cleveland Flash Cup Apparatus, and the Ring and Ball test enables the measurement of the softening point.

Gruenberg ovens can be designed as Class A ovens to conform to OSHA, NFPA 86A, Factory Mutual (FM) and Factory Insurance Association (FIA) requirements. Class A ovens are equipped with a high exhaust rate: because the heating elements are an ignition source so a high exhaust rate is needed to dilute the volatile vapors below the “lower explosive limits.” As a result, the heating elements’ kW must be sufficiently increased to compensate for the heat loss caused by the above-normal exhaust rate. In addition, for a Class A oven to be energy efficient, the additional kW required must be carefully calculated according to solvent load and operating temperature requirements.

Ignition Pulse Detector

These detectors are electromagnetic induction type detector designed to detect the number of ignition pulses produced in the gasoline engines. The IP-292 pinches a primary cord (low voltage) and the IP-296 pinches a secondary cord (high voltage) of the ignition coil. The compact, light-weight and clip-on design of these detectors offer a simple and easy detection of the number of pulse. Since the detector and its cord are made of heat resistance materials, these models are not affected by the high temperature in the engine room.
