NGR Sensing Resistors are attached in parallel to the neutral grounding resistor. The sensing resistor allows a protective relay to detect a resistor failure in a continuous manner. Sensing Resistors are used in combination with neutral grounding resistor monitor relays. The relay measures neutral grounding resistance, neutral grounding resistor current and neutral to ground voltage. The relay continuously measures neutral grounding resistor ohmic value in an unfaulted system and it trips on if neutral grounding resistance varies from its calibrated value.

The ERJ-P Series has a unique trimming pattern and high heat dissipation characteristics. These parts can be easily designed as replacements for existing Thick Film Resistors due to comparable technology and materials with use of better manufacturing processes. The ERJ-P Series has an operating temperature of -55°C to 155°C, with a smaller part, you have a higher solder-joint reliability. Crowbar resistors are three phase resistance banks which are connected to the rotor windings of the DFIG (Doubly-Feed Induction Generator) such as wind power generator. They are used to prevent damage to the inverter circuits attached to rotor side when a fault occurs in the grid. DFIG power converter, which has a restricted over-current limit, needs special attention during faults in the grid. If the rotor current or DC link voltage reaches the threshold value, crowbar resistors disconnect the converter in order to prevent the generator turning into a squirrel cage induction machine. By crowbar resistors, the DFIG could stay connected to the grid and continue its operation.
