Fiber Optic Communications
Fiber optic converters are installed between the end of fiber optic cables and data loggers to provide a lightning-proof connection.

Redox (ORP) Sensors
ORP sensors measure the oxidation-reduction potential—the tendency to gain or lose electrons when a solution comes in contact with a chemical substance. ORP measurements are used to ensure that a solution has been completely reduced or oxidized. ORP sensors are often used in tandem with pH sensors, which measure the hydrogen ion activity in a solution.

Short Haul Modems
Short haul modems provide local communication between data loggers and computers. Typically, two modems are required—one at the data logger end and one at the computer end.

USB Communications
Campbell Scientific offers complete USB connectivity solutions for your data acquisition needs. Data loggers are available with integrated USB. We also provide various USB-to-serial converters to meet your needs.

Serial Communications
Data cables are used to physically connect two devices so that data can be transmitted between them. For example, a data cable may be used to connect a data logger to a communication peripheral, a data logger to a computer, a computer to a communication peripheral, or one communication peripheral to another.

Turbidity Sensors
Turbidity sensors measure the amount of light that is scattered by the suspended solids in water. As the amount of total suspended solids (TSS) in water increases, the water's turbidity level (and cloudiness or haziness) increases. Turbidity sensors are used in river and stream gaging, wastewater and effluent measurements, control instrumentation for settling ponds, sediment transport research, and laboratory measurements.

Power Supplies
Reliable power supplies enable data acquisition systems to continuously acquire and process data. Because our components use minimal power, many of our systems can be run using sealed rechargeable or alkaline batteries. Systems that require more power are often supplemented with external rechargeable batteries, regulators, ac transformers, or solar panels.

Water Temperature Sensors
Campbell Scientific offers a variety of sensors for measuring water temperature. The electrical signals transmitted from the sensors to our dataloggers can be converted to different units of measurement, including °C , °F, and °K. Our dataloggers are also capable of measuring most commercially available water temperature sensors.

Sensors
Campbell Scientific sensors measure a broad array of parameters for environmental, water resource, research, and industrial applications. The sensors output electrical signals, which are transmitted to data loggers. In addition to our extensive line of sensors, almost any commercially available sensor can be measured by our data acquisition systems.

Narrow-band UHF/VHF Radios
UHF and VHF radio products are used in narrowband RF (radio-frequency) telemetry systems. These systems consist of a radio modem and low-powered transceiver at the remote station(s), and a transceiver connected to a modem or base station at the computer site. Up to 254 stations can be interrogated over a single UHF or VHF frequency.

Soil Moisture, Temperature, and EC Sensors
Soil volumetric water content probes (sometimes referred to as soil moisture sensors) measure the water content of soil. These probes can be used to estimate the amount of stored water in a profile or how much irrigation is required to reach a desired amount of water in the soil. These probes can be used for quick measurements or installed for long-term measurements.

Heat, Vapor, and Carbon-Dioxide Flux Sensors
Heat, vapor, and carbon-dioxide flux sensors are typically used in eddy-covariance systems to measure exchanges of carbon dioxide, water vapor, and heat between the surface of the earth and the atmosphere.

Surface Temperature Sensors
Campbell Scientific offers two types of surface temperature sensors: infrared temperature (non-contact) and surface contact. Infrared temperature sensors measure the surface temperature of an object or surface by sensing the infrared radiation given off by the subject. Surface contact sensors attach directly to a surface and measure the temperature via physical contact.

Fuel Moisture and Fuel Temperature Sensors
Fuel moisture and fuel temperature sensors emulate and measure the moisture content and temperature of similarly sized twigs on the forest floor. The sensors are typically used as part of larger systems, such as fire weather stations with dataloggers and telemetry capability, to remotely assess changing fuel conditions and potential fire hazards.

Digital Cameras
High-resolution digital cameras with video capabilities are used to take still images or videos based on an internal timer, motion detection, or a trigger from another device. The images or videos are then stored on an SD card, saved in a datalogger's memory, sent to a PC via email, or transmitted to an FTP server.
