For instruments, switches, icon backlighting, and general and architectural lighting, Vishay offers LEDs in a variety of SMD and leaded packages. Leaded LEDs are available in 1.8 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm, and square 4-lead TELUX packages. Standard and power LEDs are offered in packages with PLCC-2/4 dimensions, while MiniLEDs feature a small 2.3 mm x 1.4 mm x 1.2 mm SMD package. The next smallest package is the 0603 in lead-frame and PCB-based versions, followed by the smallest package in the Vishay portfolio: the new 0402 series. The 1 W Little Star® features a height profile of < 1.5 mm, which is 17 % thinner than a typical PLCC6 package.

Capacitors - Polymer
Polymer capacitors feature a hight volumetric efficiency that allows smaller devices to have higher capacitance values. Vishay offers polymer capacitors in a variety of surface-mount case sizes for applications such as military, portable consumer, computer/ server, network infrastracture equipment, and many others.Polymer capacitors are constructed with a highly conductive polymer as the cathode system. For the anode, tantanum is used together with tantalum oxide dielectric. This construction gives polymer capacitors all the advantages of traditional tantalum capacitors while reducing equivalent series resistance (ESR) and eliminating manganese dioxide, which is a source of catastrophic failure in tranditional tantalum capacitors.

Non-contacting Position Sensors
For use in harsh environments, Vishay offers non-contacting position sensors based on Hall Effect technology. Linear displacement, rotational (single- and multi-turn), and kit design options all provide a full 360° measurement range with no dead angles and very long life, since there is no wear and tear on sensor elements.
