The SA15-6X-S is regarded as an industry standard Long Stroke Thruster Test System. It is widely regarded as the workhorse for production testing of automotive AIRBAG sensors by leading suppliers of automotive airbags and associative control modules. The SA15-6X-S was designed to produce highly accurate and repeatable acceleration pulses in the horizontal plane; pulses such as classical haversine and half sine waveforms, and for simulating actual crash waveforms imported as ASCII amplitude/time history or as a transient capture. The long stroke capability and powerful SA Series power amplifier can reproduce crash waveforms with velocity changes up to 17 MPH.

The challenge was to achieve this positive, permanent alignment feature without requiring an expensive seismic mass in the vibration lab floor. The original CSTA design has been continuously improved over the years and has now become the industry standard for permanently aligned, integral reaction mass slip tables.

Unholtz-Dickie offers the world’s first all air-cooled, electrodynamic long-stroke testers for telecommunications, earthquake simulation, and transportation applications. Up to 2,300 lbs (1,040 kg) of payload can be supported on a 48x48 inch (1.2 x 1.2 m) footprint on either the slip plate of the horizontal LS12H thruster or the bearing-guided head expander of the vertical LS12V unit. Both are driven by the highly reliable SAI120 SiC amplifier with an integrated switching cabinet for either vertical or horizontal testing. And because it’s an electrodynamic shaker, relatively high frequencies of up to 1,000 Hz can be achieved.

The APEX Series Controllers offer an optional RS232 Amplifier/Shaker interface and a software command/status panel to operate UD’s newly enhanced SA and SAI Series amplifier/shaker systems. The SA-Command Link provides identical functionality as the standard SA Amplifier front panel switch buttons, LED status indicators and current/voltage meters. In addition, it provides a Power Save selection to automatically power down the UD SAI Amplifier/Shaker system after a test has finished or aborted, and current / voltage limits can be set to abort the test for added system / specimen protection. Now the complete UD test system can be initiated, monitored, and controlled from one convenient location.
